Bertha made several television appearances.  She was with me on Animal Planet’s Petsburg, USA as my demo dog for a segment on homemade/improvised agility practice equipment.  On another episode she was a doggy fashion model (see photo below).   She also appeared on Ask the Vet for their episode on breed information about the Bulldog.

Bertha’s agility career was during the years before the Preferred classes were implemented, so she always jumped full height for her size which meant 16” tall jumps – higher than her own height at the withers.  She frequently won or placed in her class, beating the svelte and speedy mini-poodles, shelties and mini-schnauzers that she competed directly against.

Bertha grabbed hold of my heart the moment I met her, and never let go.  Even though she passed away in 2004, her indomitable spirit lives on.  She is forever “My Immortal Beloved”.
